IndyCar's 2027 Schedule: Barcelona Debut, Laguna Seca Finale and Every Race on FOX
IndyCar heads to Spain, giving five-time champion Alex Palou a home race in Barcelona.

IndyCar is going global. The series unveiled its full 2027 schedule this week, headlined by the inaugural IndyCar Grand Prix of Barcelona and a new all-network broadcast home on FOX.
Barcelona: IndyCar Goes to Europe
The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will host IndyCar on Sunday, July 18, 2027, during a July 16-18 race weekend, under a multiyear deal. The track lost its Formula 1 Grand Prix, and IndyCar stepped in.
The biggest winner might be Alex Palou. The five-time IndyCar champion is a Barcelona native, so the race gives him a true home Grand Prix in front of his own fans.
Fernando Alonso welcomed the move, though the two-time F1 champion warned IndyCar against overextending itself with too much international expansion. Penske executives, meanwhile, say promoters around the world have been calling for years.

IndyCar Series
The IndyCar Series, officially known as the NTT IndyCar Series for sponsorship reasons, is the highest class of American open-wheel car racing in the United States, which has been conducted under the auspices of various sanctioning bodies since 1920. The series is self-sanctioned by its parent company, IndyCar, LLC, which began in 1996 as the Indy Racing League (IRL) and was created by then Indianapolis Motor Speedway owner Tony George as a competitor to Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART). In 2008, the IndyCar Series merged with CART's successor, the Champ Car World Series, unifying the history and statistics of both series (as well as those from their predecessors).
The series' premier event is the Indianapolis 500, which was first held in 1911 (which also gives the series its name 'IndyCar').
